Curious Big Valley I

A few days ago, I posted a spiel saying that I have been going into block themes with more detail and thought than I ever had prior. More specifically, my experiences with child themes and making modifications on my own. (Sounds familiar.)

But I want to do more. I want to challenge myself to making my own WordPress (block) theme. Which I believe will serve me well for two reasons:

  1. I have wanted to get into the nitty-gritty of WordPress, and block themes are a good introduction to that.
  2. It’s a fun passion project that ties into my other endeavors.

On the design front, I am planning to model the styles after the classic Substack publication design, as I enjoy the features but not so much the actual platform anymore.

At this time, it is nowhere near a state where I can show any of it. But I hope to make progress on it over time and eventually have something to show for it. When the time comes, I’ll make the GitHub repository that its hosted on publicly available.

Finally, the theme will not be released under the name “Curious Big Valley”, as it is just an internal code name that came as an IDE placeholder. It will be named after a place featured in a ZachsThoughts post, if that can narrow it down.
